Object of my Father’s delight

“Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.”
John 15:8

Jesus is telling His disciples that bringing souls to Christ will glorify God. In His ascension to heaven, Jesus clearly said, “Go ye, therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” (Matthew 28:19)

A true follower of Christ will sacrifice to fulfill the great commission of Christ. God was pleased when Jesus Christ sacrificed His life for our salvation. Therefore, it pleases God to find Christians sacrificing their time and strength in spreading the Good News about the salvation of Jesus Christ bearing much fruit in the Lord.

To sacrifice is not as simple as it may seem. In our earthly flesh, the word “Go” can be so difficult to obey. But by the grace of God, many Christians are zealous to go out and follow Christ. Among them were the men from Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Claiming John 15:7 in their prayers as a promise of surety Jerry Dormido and Alton Gesta went to the people of Barangay Malusac bringing the Good News to them.

Brgy. Malusac is located in Sasmuan, Pampanga and can be reached through a 45-minute boat ride from Guagua. It houses around 3,500 registered voters according to its barangay record. With the support of fellow believers in Christ, the mission at Malusac started in November 2016 by the will of God.

Every Saturday, Bro. Dormido and Bro. Gesta, together with Bible Students, Jembert Medez, Lito Morales and Jessa Montes, would leave their houses before 5:00 a.m. and start their journey to Malusac. The travel is not an easy one especially in the rainy days, but they have the joy in serving Jesus. Challenging it may be, their compassion for souls commits them to minister unto the people of Malusac.

As the Word of the Lord gives light, there were many who believed the Gospel and gladly received the missionaries in the barangay. They were very eager to open their houses for regular Bible studies on Saturday mornings. Likewise, the children were enthusiastic to hear Bible stories gathering around the storytellers in one corner of the street near a basketball court. They were very attentive with eyes wide in wonder as they listen to the story of David and Goliath.

Yet, a battle in prayer for the people of Malusac is constant for there were closed doors being unreceptive to the teachings of the Gospel.

In the face of rejections, the missionaries cheerfully continue the work of the Lord in Malusac. They have no place to call Baptist Church and no chairs of their own to use; nonetheless, in the afternoon those who have faith in Christ would come together in a small veranda to have their Saturday School Class and Worship Service. The faithful attendees are the first fruits in Brgy. Malusac. They are small in number but the Lord is glorified as they lift up their voices and sing unto Him who is worthy of worship.

It was already sunset when
the missionaries head home to Angeles.
The mission in its early stage is evidently growing with Jesus Christ as the foundation. However, the harvest is still plenty and the work is great. Truly, there are many souls that need to be saved and new converts ready for discipleship in Malusac. Abundant prayer for missionaries, not only in Malusac but also in all around the world, is needed that they faint not in preaching the Gospel, for in labor and sacrifices to bear fruits to Christ, God delights.
